Basic Reflexology Information

reflexologyHabitual sleeplessness is called insomnia. Chances are if you experience it, you don’t need me to define it, and that fact that it is frustrating is an understatement. Insomnia affects one out of ten Americans and approximately 30 percent of healthy seniors. Insomnia can cause the inability to fall asleep at night, or cause you to wake up during the night without the ability to fall back asleep. Although insomnia itself is not dangerous, it often is a symptom of a more serious underlying medical condition.

The following is a brief outline of some of the benefits of learning reflexology: One of the most attractive things about reflexology is that it is simple to learn. Not to say that there isn’t a technique that should be followed, because there is. However, of the many forms of massage and healing techniques, reflexology is probably the easiest and fastest form of therapy to learn. Many believe it is part intuitive and part learned skill. I happen to agree with this statement. Freedom to prevent and cure your own ailments, as well as the health for your entire family without spending big bucks on office visits.

There are numerous positive health effects that individuals report after they receive reflexology treatment. Amongst the many benefits include a decreased level of stress, as well as a higher level of energy, increased circulation, and a boosted immune system. People claim that the practice can also be helpful when it comes to eliminating or lessening symptoms of PMS, as well as helping to assist with lessening the pain that headaches can cause. Those who suffer from cancer pain and victims of multiple sclerosis also may find relief from receiving treatment from a reflexologist.

Obecity and pregnancy

Pregnant and scale

Women who are obese could have many complications when they are pregnant.  Other studies have found that there is an association with birth defects and being obese.  Some of these birth defects include heart problems and limb problems.

Another health problem from being obese that could affect the mother is gestational diabetes.  Gestational diabetes is developed during pregnancy.  Just like Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, the glucose, which is what happens to your food when it is broken down, will stay in your blood stream and not go to your cells to be converted into energy. The 279 obese women (more than 90 kg at some time during the pregnancy) were found to be older and of higher parity than the 2467 who were not obese. Those in the obese group were at increased antepartum risk and had increased frequencies of chronic hypertension, inadequate pregnancy weight gain, twin gestation, and diabetes mellitus. Oxytocin induction and repeat cesarean sections were performed more frequently for the obese patients, with no increase in complications during the current labor.  However, with most women, once you have the baby you are no longer diabetic.  But you are at a higher risk of getting it if you become pregnant again in the future.
